Yola Booth

Q-Active Activities Coordinator

Yola Booth - Q-Active Activities Coordinator

As the Activities Coordinator, it is my role to manage the day-to-day delivery of Q-active to the Trust`s staff, which involves liaising with instructors and therapists and making sure the programme runs effectively.

I also help Sandra with some strategic elements of the programme, and make sure decisions impacting the delivery of Q-active to staff are viable.

When I heard about Q-Active, I had been ill for around three years and felt that as well as my physical health being far from great, my mental wellbeing was starting to be affected. I joined Q-Active as a Premier Member and started attending three or four classes per week, which gave me something to do during my lunch break and also meant I didn`t have to "make the effort" to find something to do in the evenings. Now I`m in great health and don`t have to rely on medication to get me through. When the vacancy for Activities Coordinator came up I knew it was the job for me - helping other people make a difference to their health and wellbeing - what better gift can you give to yourself than good mental and physical health?

I hope that our continued efforts will bring about a positive attitude to physical and cultural activity at NUH, and together with the rest of the team I am here to help you on your way.
