Walk to Work Week

View the full programme of events

Be part of Nottingham's most popular walking event!

Walking FeetFollowing the success of Greater Nottingham's Walk Week 2006, the dates for this year's event have been announced. Between 19-27 May, a bigger and better calendar of walking events for all ages and abilities is being planned by Nottinghamshire County Council.

There will be health walks for beginners, a new West Bridgford Calorie map, Nordic walking taster sessions, dog walks, nature walks, 'orienteering for all' and the popular "Walk to Work Wednesday" for commuters.

So why not walk to work for a change? Following on from the success of Walk to Work Wednesday 2006, NUH and Q-active will be joining in with Walk Week again this year. Either walk your own route or meet up with a colleague half-way there. There will be a prize for the person who walks the furthest distance in to work. Don't worry if you live close to the hospital or are short of time - you could enter the departmental challenge. There'll be a prize for the department with the highest total miles walked into work.

One day of the week will be nominated official Walk to Work day at the Trust, and anyone walking to work that day will be able to get a free, healthy breakfast. More details will follow in Trust Briefing and next month's NUHorizons.

A website containing the full programme of events, plus walking information and advice, and the chance to sign up for sessions is at www.walkweek.org.
