| Ditch your car next Wednesday for Walk Week |
NUH employees are invited to ditch their cars in favour of a cleaner environment, smaller waistlines and clearer heads next Wednesday in support of Walk on Wednesday (24th May 2006) when we hope you will all walk some or all of the way to work.
The event is part of the first ever Greater Nottingham Walk Week (21st - 29th May 2006) as the public and private sectors come together with an exciting calendar of walking events. Between 21st and 29th May, there will be guided walks, a new walking directory, and the launch of some new maps as well as the "walk on Wednesday" initiative.
It is hoped that Walk on Wednesday will demonstrate how easy and enjoyable walking to work can be. Jo Tomlinson, Travel and Security Manager says, "walking is enjoyable and good for your health. As a Trust, we recognise the benefits of encouraging our employees to take part in these activities and for staff to arrive less stressed and more alert to improve patient care and our sickness absence levels."
John Broughton, Energy & Environmental Manager, added "walking to work just occasionally, means everyone can support the Trust's environmental ethos and significantly reduce congestion on and around the site."
To take part in Walk on Wednesday or any other Walk Week activities you can pledge at www.itsnottingham.info/walkweek.htm and you will receive a free gift. Or you can simply join in one of our led walks for Q-active freebies and a free breakfast.
