Ninjutsu, taught today as part of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, is a martial art with a traceable history stretching back 900 years to feudal Japan. This makes it one of the oldest martial arts.
In our training we employ natural body movements to strike, apply locks and to throw. Once the basic ideas of unarmed defence have been grasped, weapons training is introduced.
The martial arts schools of the Bujinkan are some of only a few remaining today that have not been transformed into sports. There are, therefore, no competitions or competitive influences in our training.
The Bujinkan was founded by Soke Hatsumi and is based in Noda, Japan. Soke Hatsumi is the Grandmaster of nine traditional martial arts schools and together these schools, which are from both Ninja and Samurai traditions, form the basis of our training.
This class is run by an independent club and is open to all members of NUH staff - class fees of £3.00 per session are to be paid directly to the instructor.
